The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) within the Lagos State Police Command have detained two individuals suspected of robbery, recovering three locally manufactured pistols and six cartridges from a minibus in the vicinity of Adekunle, Yaba.
The arrest transpired on Sunday, May 5, 2024, around 10 pm, as RRS officers conducted a routine patrol in the area, culminating in the interception of a Lagos-bound minibus, colloquially referred to as “Korope,” en route to Ketu/Ojota.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Command, officially confirmed the apprehension via his verified X handle (formerly Twitter), elaborating on the sequence of events on Monday.
“Upon inspection of the vehicle, three locally crafted pistols and six cartridges were discovered, leading to the arrest of two suspects, identified as Ademola Adeniyi, aged 38, and Anjorin Afeez, aged 41,” Hundeyin disclosed.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the apprehended individuals boarded the bus at Jeba Bus Stop, Ebute Metta, allegedly en route to partake in a planned robbery operation.
Hundeyin further elucidated that the detained suspects are presently aiding law enforcement authorities in ongoing investigations into the matter.
