The recent attack on Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State was reportedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The incident, which took place late Sunday evening, resulted in fatalities and multiple severe injuries.
Sources indicated that the herdsmen targeted mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, leaving behind a trail of devastation and sorrow. Some of the deceased individuals were identified as Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea.
A chilling video that surfaced on Monday morning showcased an abandoned community, with the narrator lamenting the sudden and violent attack on the mourners by the assailants. The video captured a scene of chaos, with overturned tables and chairs, as well as lifeless individuals lying in a pool of blood.
This is not the first time Nimbo has been targeted, as a similar attack took place in 2016, resulting in numerous casualties and sparking national outrage.
As of now, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu State Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, has not provided a response to inquiries regarding the recent attack.
