Ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has elected John Akinmurele as its candidate. The selection process, held in Akure, the state capital, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, saw participation from delegates representing all 18 local government areas.
Dotun Ojon, the YPP Chairman in Ondo State, lauded the party’s leadership caliber and urged members to uphold integrity throughout the electoral journey. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials closely monitored the proceedings to ensure transparency and fairness.
The selection process involved delegates aligning behind their preferred candidates from the various local government areas. Ultimately, Williams Moses, Chair of the Primary Election Committee, announced the outcome, with an overwhelming majority of 89 out of 90 accredited delegates endorsing Akinmurele.
Expressing gratitude for the support, Akinmurele extended his appreciation to the election committee, delegates, and INEC observers for their roles in ensuring a smooth process. He also took the opportunity to inspire the youth delegates, urging them to embrace leadership responsibilities and emphasizing YPP’s dedication to fostering good governance in Ondo State.
