Unspecified number of workers got trapped under the debris when a building collapsed in the Kuntau area of Gwale local government area in Kano State on Friday.
it was initially reported that at least 11 individuals were ensnared under the rubble of the structure, which was still under construction as at the time of the collapse.
Emergency response teams from both the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the State Fire Service swiftly mobilised to the scene, launching efforts to rescue those trapped within.
Amidst the chaos and urgency, two persons have been successfully rescued from the wreckage and promptly transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.
However, the painstaking excavation efforts continue unabated, with responders labouring tirelessly to locate and rescue any remaining trapped individuals.
The exact cause of the tragic collapse remains a mystery, prompting local authorities to initiate a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The collapse of the building, however, stands as a stark reminder of the inherent risks associated with construction projects and the paramount importance of taking safety measures in safeguarding the lives of workers.
