President Bola Tinubu has appointed Emomotimi Agama as the new Director General of the regulatory body. This announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement released on Friday.
Alongside Agama’s appointment, President Tinubu also greenlit the selection of Mr. Mairiga Aliyu Katuka to lead as Chairman of the SEC Board. Additionally, the President approved the appointments of Franca Chukwuogor, Bola Ajomale, and Samiya Hassan Usman as Executive Commissioners, each tasked with pivotal roles within the commission’s structure.
Furthermore, the President appointed Mr. Lekan Bello and Mr. Kasimu Garba Kurfi to serve as Non-Executive Commissioners, rounding out the diverse composition of the SEC Board.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in the newly appointed members, emphasizing his expectation that they would leverage their expertise to advance the commission’s core mandate. This mandate, he stressed, includes fostering a capital market characterized by dynamism, fairness, transparency, and efficiency, with the overarching goal of enhancing investor confidence and driving positive economic growth for the nation.
Emomotimi Agama, the newly appointed Director General, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as a Regional Executive member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) UK. Additionally, he has demonstrated his commitment to community welfare through his tenure as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Purity Rose Orphanage Home.
