Federal Government Initiates Measures to Enhance Security of Oil and Gas Infrastructure

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokobri, underscored the critical importance of safeguarding the nation’s oil assets and investments during a meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, in Abuja.

Senator Lokobri commended the military’s professionalism and reiterated the necessity of their support in providing adequate security for the oil and gas sector.

Furthermore, he affirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering dedication to leveraging the full potential of the sector to bolster the nation’s economy.

In response, General Christopher Musa disclosed plans for a forthcoming security summit in the Niger Delta region, emphasizing the military’s continued commitment to prioritizing the protection of the country’s oil assets.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to combat vandalism, illegal bunkering, and refining activities, noting tangible improvements in production as a result of these endeavors.
