The Lagos State Police Command rescued three infants who were confined in a room by their grandmother in the Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun area of Lagos State.
The reason for the grandmother’s actions was not disclosed, but the children—a girl and two boys aged between two and four years old—appeared malnourished and were reportedly only wearing diapers when they were rescued.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command spokesperson, mentioned that the grandmother, identified as Fatimo Ganiyu, had been apprehended. The Ikotun Division received information around 4:00 p.m. that three children, a girl and two boys aged between two and four years old, were locked up by their grandmother, Fatimo Ganiyu, in the Agodo, Egbe-Ikotun area. The Divisional Police Officer promptly led an anti-crime detective team to the location, where the children were rescued and brought to the station, despite appearing malnourished and in poor health.
“The suspect was arrested, and the infants will be moved for proper treatment and care. An investigation is currently in progress.”
