In a pivotal move addressing the prevailing hardships, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, has announced the imminent rollout of a comprehensive grain distribution initiative. President Bola Tinubu has greenlit the allocation of 42,000 metric tons of grains to be disseminated across all 36 states.
Minister Kyari, in a statement on his official communication platform, disclosed that strategic collaborations with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Department of State Service (DSS) have been established to ensure the precise delivery of grains to the deserving recipients in appropriate quantities.
Additionally, the Ministry is set to inject 58,500 metric tons of milled rice, sourced from major rice millers, into the market to foster stabilization during these challenging times.
Expressing empathy for those grappling with the adverse effects of the recent foodstuff warehouse looting incidents, Minister Kyari assured the nation of the government’s unwavering commitment to the citizens’ well-being. The distribution initiative is slated to kick off this week, marking a significant stride in the government’s multifaceted response to the current socio-economic challenges.
