The Adamawa State Government is to continue the payment of N10,000 monthly allowance to every member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, serving in the state.
The government said this is to cushion the current biting effects of inflation in the country.
The state Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta made the pledge on Tuesday while addressing 1,700 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 corps members during their swearing-in ceremony at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Damare, near Yola.
He assured the corps members of a safe and conducive environment for their service.
“My dear compatriots, we remain committed to fulfilling the payment of the N10,000 monthly allowance for corps members serving in Adamawa State to cushion the biting effects of inflation currently being experienced,” the Deputy Governor said.
She added, “I do not doubt in my mind that you will reciprocate this gesture by being diligent, disciplined and hard working at your places of primary assignment.
“I encourage you to avail yourselves of the opportunities for self-employment offered through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme”.
Also speaking, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mr Jingi Denis thanked the state government for the allowance and for augmenting the feeding of corps members and camp officials.
Jingi advised the corps members to sustain a high level of discipline and enthusiasm.
