The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State diligently executed its Ward Delegates Congress on Monday, spanning across the 192 wards within the 18 local governments. At a press conference held in Benin City, the State Acting Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, officially announced this development, emphasizing its alignment with the amended electoral act.
Tenebe, articulating the proceedings, detailed the composition of the five elected delegates from each ward, comprising three males and two females, totaling 960 delegates statewide. These ward delegates, as clarified by the acting chairman, hold the pivotal role of affirming the outcomes of the direct governorship primary.
Highlighting the party’s adherence to the National Secretariat’s timetable, Tenebe disclosed the recent membership revalidation and underscored the ongoing commitment to bolstering internal democracy. The party’s deployment of resources to all 18 local governments for the ward delegates congress solidifies its dedication to this democratic process, crucial in endorsing the results of the Direct Primaries.
Assuring a level playing field for the 12 aspirants, Tenebe explicitly stated that the party has neither endorsed any candidate cleared by the committee nor granted authority to any individual or group to do so.
