The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to clear outstanding bonuses and allowances owed to the Super Eagles national team.
According to SCORENigeria, the debts, which date back to over three years and include bonuses for 26 matches, have been covered in the budget approved by the Federal Government for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
In a statement to SCORENigeria, a Sports Ministry official stated that the budget approval will allow for the clearance of all bonuses and allowances owed to the Super Eagles.
The official added that this will be a “big incentive” for the team as they prepare for the AFCON tournament, and that it shows the government’s commitment to supporting football in the country.
The Super Eagles are currently in Abu Dhabi, UAE, where they are undergoing preparations for the upcoming AFCON. The players will no doubt be pleased to hear that their hard work will finally be rewarded.
While the exact amount owed is unknown, the clearance of these debts would provide a much-needed boost for the team and show the government’s commitment to supporting the nation’s football.
