Not fewer than two hundred women and youths have been trained in various skills by the National Industrial Skills Development Programme of the Industrial Training Fund to enable them to be self-reliant.
The aspects of training includes solar power installation, POP and painting, hairdressing and beauty care, ladies’ wig and cap making, as well as leather works.
At the graduation and closing of the ITF 2023 Intervention Programmes in Abuja, the Director General of the Industrial Training Fund, Mr Afiz Ogun, said the essence of the training was to fast-track the achievement of the federal government’s policy on job creation and wealth creation.
The Director General, represented by the Director Technical and Vocational Skills Training Development Department, Mr. Olasupo James, said the fund would soon unveil a comprehensive policy thrust for the agency.
The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite represented by the Director of the Industrial Development Department in the ministry, Mr Opaoluwa John said various skills intervention programme of ITF were an indication of the importance attached to the development of a viable society.
Some graduates, Onah Malachi and Aisha Tanko, expressed gratitude to the ITF for the training and pledged to utilize the knowledge gained to improve their lives.
