Labour Union;NLC, TUC insist on nationwide strike

The National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have insisted that the nationwide strike begin on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Following a meeting on Friday in Abuja, the union’s leadership decided to move on with a statewide strike in response to unpaid salaries for members and the state of Imo’s inability to fulfill an agreement agreed with the union.

The government’s refusal to uphold NLC agreements and its assault on NLC President Joe Ajaero prompted Organized Labor to go on strike.

The General Secretary of Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja directed all NLC affiliate Unions to mobilize their members in preparation for the strike.

Comrade Joe Ajaero maintained that he was not a member of any political party as been insinuated, narrating how he was manhandled at the NLC Secretariat in Owerri, Imo State.

He also denied any involvement in interfering with the affairs of Imo State
