Istanbul, Turkey— Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has admitted to feeling intense anxiety whenever Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is called up for international duty.
Osimhen has been ruled out of Nigeria’s important 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against South Africa due to an injury sustained during Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo on Saturday.
Buruk, speaking to habersarikirmizi, expressed hope that Osimhen’s injury is not serious.
“If there is an issue with Osimhen, we are prepared to send a plane immediately to bring him back to Türkiye. We pray it isn’t serious,” Buruk told Now Spor, as quoted by habersarikirmizi.
“I was having dinner when a waiter approached me with a phone in hand about Osimhen’s condition.
“I always worry when he goes to play for the national team, and tonight those fears surfaced again.
“We managed to reach Osimhen, and the information we got is that he is experiencing foot pain.”
Osimhen’s injury remains a major concern as Galatasaray look forward to his recovery.
