Lagos, Nigeria — BUA Group has strongly denounced the recent violent assault near its Okpella facility in Edo State that led to the death of eight operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and one civilian driver.
The tragic incident also involved the abduction of a foreign expatriate, while four others were rescued unharmed, according to a statement from the company.
BUA expressed deep sorrow over the attack and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen, the NSCDC, and the Nigerian government. The company wished speedy recovery to the injured officers still receiving medical care.
In collaboration with security agencies, BUA is actively working to secure the safe return of the kidnapped expatriate and to bring those responsible to justice.
The group emphasized that safeguarding the wellbeing of its employees, partners, and local communities remains a top priority.
“This unfortunate event reminds us of the daily risks and sacrifices borne by our security personnel. Their bravery and dedication will always be honored,” the company stated.
BUA Group, established in 1988 by industrialist Abdul Rabiu, is a leading African conglomerate with diverse investments in manufacturing, mining, food production, and infrastructure development. Key sectors include cement production, construction, real estate, plaster manufacturing, and quarrying.
