Bloemfontein, South Africa — Oswin Appollis is gearing up for an intense match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at Toyota Stadium. Following a convincing 3-0 win over Lesotho, South Africa is confident heading into the clash.
The Super Eagles aim to secure their third qualifying victory and narrow Bafana Bafana’s lead at the top of Group C. Appollis acknowledged Nigeria’s strong squad but expressed readiness for the challenge.
“It’s going to be a thrilling but difficult encounter. Nigeria has top-quality players, but we’re prepared for the battle,” Appollis told Sowetan.
South Africa last participated in the World Cup in 2010, and qualifying again is a key ambition for the nation and its players.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be part of a team close to World Cup qualification after missing out since 2010,” Appollis added.
“We still have three matches left, and all will be tough. However, with the current squad, we have a real chance to make it to the World Cup.”
