Abuja, Nigeria— The Super Eagles departed on Sunday morning for South Africa ahead of their pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Bafana Bafana, according to Completesports.com.
The team, accompanied by officials, flew to South Africa via ValueJet Airline.
Following an injury to forward Victor Osimhen, 22 players made the trip.
Osimhen sustained the injury during the first half of Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday.
The 26-year-old striker is expected to return to Turkey for further treatment.
Under the guidance of coach Eric Chelle, the team will seek their third victory in the qualifiers when they face South Africa at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
Currently, South Africa leads Group C with 16 points from seven matches, while Nigeria stands third with 10 points.
