Uk,Britain–British actor Micheal Ward, acclaimed for his role in the Netflix series Top Boy, appeared in a London court on Thursday to face multiple charges of rape and sexual assault.
The 27-year-old actor, who recently featured alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal in the Hollywood film Eddington, was formally charged last month with five counts, including two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault, all allegedly involving one woman in January 2023.
Ward appeared before Thames Magistrates’ Court in East London, where he confirmed his personal details but did not enter a plea. He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear next at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 25. Under bail conditions, he is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim.
In a statement released in July, Ward denied all charges, emphasizing his full cooperation with law enforcement during the investigation.
Ward’s notable acting career includes starring roles in Netflix’s Top Boy revival (2019-2023). He was honored with the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2020 and received nominations for Best Supporting Actor BAFTAs for his performances in the BBC drama series Small Axe (2021) and the 2022 film Empire of Light.
