Abuja, Nigeria–The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is set to roll out a new digital platform to enhance the accessibility and convenience of its Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) for intending pilgrims across the country.
In a statement issued by the Commission, NAHCON disclosed that the web-based solution will allow users to open and manage their Hajj savings accounts from smartphones, tablets, and computers. The initiative aims to simplify participation in the scheme and broaden its adoption nationwide.
The development was the focus of a strategic meeting between NAHCON officials and representatives of the Alternative Bank, held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja. The session was led by the Head of the Hajj Savings Scheme, Mr. Abdulmumin Aliyu, and the bank’s IT representative, Ms. Rabiat Akinwale.
Mr. Aliyu described the digital rollout as a significant advancement in modernising Hajj preparations in Nigeria. He noted that the platform would enable real-time access to account information, streamline processes by eliminating paperwork, and improve overall efficiency. Prospective users will be required to register using their Bank Verification Number (BVN), National Identification Number (NIN), phone number, and email address.
Speaking on behalf of the bank, Ms. Akinwale assured that the platform is being designed with security and user experience as top priorities. She reiterated the bank’s commitment to delivering a transparent and reliable system tailored to the needs of Nigerian pilgrims.
Both parties resolved to accelerate the implementation process to ensure early deployment of the platform, with integration planned across Alternative Bank branches nationwide.
The Hajj Savings Scheme, introduced by NAHCON in collaboration with partnering financial institutions, is designed to provide a structured, long-term savings plan for Muslims aspiring to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.
