128 Rescued Kidnap Victims Reunited With Families in Abuja

Abuja, NigeriaThe National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has reunited 128 rescued kidnap victims with their families in Abuja after successful security operations in Zamfara State.

The victims, including men, women, and children, were freed during two coordinated rescue missions carried out by security forces at Kaura Namoda. According to Ribadu, the rescued individuals will not only be reunited with their loved ones but also receive medical and psychological support to help them overcome trauma and reintegrate smoothly into their communities.

He commended the dedication and bravery of the security forces involved in the operations, stressing that the fight against kidnapping and banditry remains a top priority for the government. Ribadu also gave assurances that those responsible for these heinous crimes would be relentlessly tracked down and prosecuted, stating, “The perpetrators will be hunted and brought to justice.”

The NSA further urged Nigerians to avoid politicizing issues of national security, warning that such actions only undermine the collective fight against terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry. “Let us take politics out of security challenges,” he cautioned.

In his remarks, the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Major General Adamu Laka, provided additional details about the rescue mission. He revealed that, unfortunately, one of the children rescued had passed away due to illness, while a premature baby delivered during the operation was placed under intensive medical care in an incubator.

The reunion marks another significant milestone in the federal government’s efforts to curb insecurity and restore peace in troubled parts of the country. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting victims and ensuring that communities affected by kidnappings are rebuilt with hope and stability.
