Bergamo, Italy — Atalanta’s manager Ivan Juric has addressed the transfer drama involving Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, who sought to leave the club after interest from Inter Milan. Lookman made a transfer request and skipped training to force a move.
Juric said the saga reflects the modern transfer market, where clubs and players prioritize their interests, while fans suffer emotionally. “Fans invest emotionally but are often the ones hurt,” Juric told Corriere dello Sport.
Lookman has resumed training separately after Inter withdrew their offer and is unlikely to feature when Atalanta faces newly promoted Pisa in their season opener.
With the window closing, Lookman’s future remains uncertain as tensions linger between player and club.
