Gusau, Zamfara State — Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convened a closed-door strategic meeting in Zamfara State to discuss pivotal political issues and reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting was declared open by Senator Bala Mohammed, Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State. He highlighted the forum’s agenda to tackle internal challenges, strengthen party unity, and deliberate on national matters such as equity, justice, governance, and the role of the National Assembly.
Zamfara Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal welcomed the delegates, stressing the importance of unity and collaboration among PDP leaders as they prepare for the upcoming National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The gathering follows a tradition of peer review among PDP governors aimed at sharing governance experiences and fostering responsibility. The chairman is expected to brief the press on the outcomes after the meeting concludes.
The PDP is working to harmonize interests within its ranks, overcome factional divisions, and set a clear strategy to reclaim political strength in forthcoming elections.
