Osun state, Nigeria–The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a man, Usman Mohammed, following a fatal road accident that occurred in Ikirun on Tuesday.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, the incident took place around Oja Oba Market, along the busy Ikirun-Iree-Ila Road. A truck transporting granite reportedly lost control due to brake failure and struck four individuals.
“The accident involved a truck and a motorcycle. The truck, which was carrying granite, lost control and hit a motorcyclist before veering into a nearby shop,” Ojelabi explained during an interview with The PUNCH. “Usman Mohammed, who was standing by the roadside, died at the scene, while three others sustained varying degrees of injury and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.”
SP Ojelabi urged motorists and other road users to remain vigilant and prioritize safety, assuring that the command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
