Hull, England— Hull City are poised to finalize the signing of Nigerian winger David Akintola on a two-year contract, following his departure as a free agent from Turkish club Caykur Rizespor.
The 29-year-old versatile winger chose the English Championship side over offers from Turkish clubs, including newly promoted Genclerbirligi. Akintola joined Rizespor in January 2024 from Adana Demirspor, where he made notable contributions including three goals and five assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Akintola began his career at Denmark’s FC Midtjylland and has gained experience playing in Norway and Cyprus before moving to Turkey.
Hull City sees Akintola as a valuable addition to their attacking options, particularly as some squad members regain fitness. The club is hopeful he adapts quickly to English football despite his lack of prior experience in the country.
