Portable, VeryDarkMan Lock Horns in Heated Exchange of Diss Tracks and Rituals

Lagos, NigeriaThe ongoing feud between controversial singer Portable (Habeeb Okikiola) and online activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) (Martins Otse) escalated dramatically this week, with both men trading insults, diss tracks, and spiritual threats in a public battle for clout and credibility.

What began as an online spat has turned into a full-blown conflict, with both parties digging up past controversies and hurling accusations. The rift reportedly started after Portable criticized VDM for consistently attacking President Bola Tinubu over Nigeria’s economic situation, accusing the activist of exploiting the death of singer Mohbad for personal gain.

In retaliation, VDM released a diss track titled “Ole” (Thief), referencing past allegations that Portable had stolen a tricycle and mobile phones. He followed up with a second diss track and claimed to be working on a full seven-track EP. He also posted an old video allegedly showing Portable being assaulted over theft claims, and introduced a signature dance to promote the track.

Not to be outdone, Portable responded with his own song, “VDM Oromadiye”, where he launched personal attacks, labeling VDM’s mother a prostitute and mocking his humble beginnings. He defended himself against the theft allegations, claiming they dated back to 2020 and were part of a smear campaign.

“All of you calling me a thief, your children will suffer,” Portable said in a viral video. “Big politicians steal and walk free, but I’m being crucified.” He further accused VDM of targeting him because of his support for the president, and called on authorities including Seyi Tinubu, the EFCC, and the police to take action against the activist.

VDM, undeterred, dropped a third diss track titled “Zazoo ft All My Gees”, in which he doubled down on his accusations. He described Portable as “dirty and smelly” and boasted that his fan base, The Ratels, dominated social media. The track was accompanied by a street-themed music video featuring dancers and tricycle riders.

In a surprising twist, Portable was seen in a separate video performing a ritual. Holding a horn wrapped in red cloth, he prayed for blessings on his supporters and invoked curses on those calling him a thief. He also made offerings including a live chicken, kola nuts, and gin.

With both men refusing to back down, the dramatic and often chaotic back-and-forth continues to captivate social media users, fueling a digital firestorm that shows no signs of dying out.
