Naira Records Slight Weekly Gain—CBN

Abuja, NigeriaThe Nigerian currency, Naira, ended the week on a positive trajectory, strengthening slightly against the U.S. dollar at the official market, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The CBN’s latest data released on Friday showed the Naira trading at N1,534.72 per dollar, reflecting a gain of 4.52 kobo or 0.05 per cent from the previous day’s rate of N1,534.79.

While the week began on a subdued note—with the Naira dropping by 20 kobo on Monday—the currency showed signs of resilience in the subsequent days, closing at N1,535.24 on Tuesday and N1,535.62 on Wednesday before making its modest recovery by week’s end.

Analysts note that the fluctuation mirrors broader efforts by monetary authorities to stabilize the foreign exchange market amid ongoing fiscal reforms and rising investor sentiment.

The Central Bank reaffirmed its commitment to exchange rate stability and transparent market operations as part of its broader monetary policy strategy.
