Damaturu, Yobe State — The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 35-year-old woman, Hadiza Mamuda, over the alleged killing of her husband during a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred in Garin Abba Village, Fika Local Government Area, following a heated altercation between the couple reportedly centered around food items.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspect used a log of wood to fatally assault her husband during the quarrel.
“The suspect is currently in custody, and a full investigation is ongoing. She will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of preliminary inquiries,” Abdulkarim stated.
The deceased, described as a polygamist with two wives and five children, leaves behind a bereaved family.
Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, expressed deep concern over the rising cases of domestic violence, urging for increased community-based interventions aimed at promoting peaceful marital relations.
He also called on religious and traditional leaders to step up awareness campaigns, particularly focusing on non-violent conflict resolution within households.
The police command reiterated its commitment to justice and the protection of family values through proactive measures.
