Inter Milan Set to Submit Improved Bid for Ademola Lookman

San Siro, ItalyInter Milan are preparing a stronger offer to secure the signing of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, following the rejection of their initial proposal, according to multiple reports.

Lookman has already agreed on personal terms with the Nerazzurri, committing to a contract reportedly extending until 2030. Despite this, Atalanta declined Inter’s earlier €40 million loan-to-buy offer, insisting on a permanent transfer with a price tag of around €50 million.

Negotiations between the two clubs are expected to resume this week, as Inter aim to bridge the gap with a revised bid possibly around €42 to €45 million, including bonuses. The Nigerian forward remains keen to join Inter and has reportedly rejected overtures from Serie A champions Napoli, who had offered a higher wage.

Recent minor fitness setbacks for Lookman have inadvertently given Inter more time to strategize their offer and apply pressure on Atalanta, which is under financial obligation to share future resale income with RB Leipzig. This financial tie partly explains Atalanta’s firm valuation.

Lookman, who joined Atalanta from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in 2022, was instrumental in their 2023/24 Europa League success, showcasing versatility across attacking roles with 20 goals and seven assists last season.

Inter Milan’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, identifies Lookman as a top offensive target to strengthen their frontline ahead of the new campaign.

As talks continue, Inter are confident the player’s strong desire to join them will play a key role in finalizing the transfer soon.
