Monaco, France— Monaco midfielder Paul Pogba has publicly endorsed Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele as his pick to win this year’s Ballon d’Or award.
Dembele has enjoyed an exceptional season, playing a pivotal role in PSG’s historic first UEFA Champions League triumph with a 5-0 final victory over Inter Milan. He ended the 2024/2025 campaign with an impressive tally of 35 goals and 16 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.
Despite stiff competition from Barcelona’s young talent Lamine Yamal, Pogba expressed confidence that Dembele’s achievements, especially winning the Champions League, give him the edge.
“This isn’t about national bias,” Pogba told YouTuber iShowSpeed. “In my opinion, Dembele is a step ahead of Yamal this year because he delivered on the biggest stage. Mbappé was clearly in his way, but Dembele’s goals in crucial matches have defined his season. If he doesn’t win it now, he might never.”
He added, “It could go either way, but that’s my view. Ultimately, it depends on what the voters decide.”
Dembele is widely seen as the favorite to claim the award, backed by his instrumental role in PSG’s rise as the dominant force in European football during the season.
