Police Nab Three Over Murder of Two Ondo University Students

Akure, NigeriaThe Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals, including a landlord, in connection with the abduction and gruesome murder of two undergraduates of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).

The suspects — Mr. Oladele Femi (a landlord), Ojo Michael, and Abdul Mohammed Mubarak — were apprehended after weeks of investigation following the disappearance of Andrel Eloho Okah (19) and John Friday Abah (25), both students of AAUA.

The duo was last seen on June 20, 2025, after leaving their residence. Their remains were later discovered near the Ondo-Ekiti State border, in separate locations around Agbado and Ode-Ekiti.

Confirming the arrests, Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, stated that the landlord allegedly instructed suspected cultists to “deal with” Abah over a personal grievance. This order, CP Lawal noted, eventually led to the kidnapping and killing of both students.

The investigation was triggered by a petition filed by G.O. Omoedu & Co. on behalf of the victims’ relative, prompting detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to trace Abah’s iPhone 14 Pro Max to Computer Village in Lagos. The phone led to the arrest of Mubarak, who revealed he purchased it from Ojo Michael.

Michael, arrested in Aramoko-Ekiti, confessed to participating in the abduction, murder, and robbery. He also admitted to raping Okah before killing her, fearing she might recognize and expose him.

During the ordeal, ₦800,000 was also withdrawn from Abah’s account. Acting on Michael’s confession, police recovered Okah’s body from a bush near Ode-Ekiti, while the search for Abah’s body continues, with authorities believing it was dumped in a river.

Describing the case as “a tragic reminder of the brutality of premeditated crimes,” CP Lawal assured the public that all individuals connected to the crime will face full prosecution.

“These were innocent, promising students whose lives were cut short by greed and cruelty. Justice will be served,” he vowed.
