Libya declares emergency as storm Daniel kills 150

At least 150 people have died after a powerful storm Daniel caused severe flooding in eastern Libya, an official has said.

Unverified footage released on social media showed people stranded on the roofs of their vehicles, as authorities declared a state of emergency, shuttering shops and schools and imposing a curfew.

According to BBC, Storm made landfall in the North African nation over the weekend, prompting authorities to declare a state of extreme emergency.

During ongoing rescue efforts, 7 members of the Libyan army went missing.

The eastern cities of Benghazi, Sousse, Derna, and Al-Marj have all been impacted by Storm Daniel.

The western city of Misrata was also among those hit by the floods.
