Turkish Clubs Target Nigerian Star, Umar Sadiq.

Istanbul, TurkeySuper Eagles forward Umar Sadiq is attracting attention from three Turkish Super Lig clubs as Spanish side Real Sociedad prepares to offload the striker this summer.

Sadiq, who joined Sociedad in 2022, is no longer in the club’s plans for the upcoming 2025/26 season. Reports from Estadio Deportivo suggest the La Liga side, managed by Sergio Francisco, is looking to cash in on the Nigerian international for around €10 million.

Turkish giants Besiktas, alongside Samsunspor and another unnamed club, are reportedly exploring a potential deal for the 28-year-old striker, who is also eager to revive his career elsewhere after an inconsistent spell in San Sebastián.

Short Stint at Valencia

The former Almeria star spent the latter half of last season on loan at Valencia, where he impressed during a difficult campaign. His five goals in 16 league matches proved crucial in helping the club avoid relegation from La Liga.

Despite his strong showing, Valencia opted not to make the deal permanent, leaving Sadiq’s future once again uncertain.

Setbacks in San Sebastián

Sadiq joined Real Sociedad on September 1, 2022, after a prolific run with Almeria where he found the net 40 times in 79 league appearances. He made an immediate impact on his debut, scoring in a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid.

However, his bright start was cut short after he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in only his second game—against Getafe—which ruled him out for the rest of the season. Since then, he has struggled to reclaim form, scoring just four goals in 35 league appearances for Sociedad.

With his future at the Spanish club hanging in the balance, Turkish clubs are now battling to secure his services ahead of the new season.
