Abia govt warns against acts of political irresponsibility

Abia state, Nigeria:The Abia State Government has issued a strong warning against any actions that could threaten the peace and security of the state, stressing that it will not tolerate political irresponsibility or acts capable of inciting unrest.

Governor Alex Otti made this known during a meeting with members of the Aba Union—the apex sociocultural body representing the nine local government areas of the Old Aba Division—held at the residence of elder statesman and Abia’s first Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Theo Nkire.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering long-lasting infrastructure across the state. He assured the Aba Union that both ongoing and future road projects would be constructed to serve present and future generations.

Highlighting one of the flagship projects, the governor disclosed that the reconstruction of Ohanku Road is being undertaken using rigid pavement technology, designed to last over 50 years. He added that similar upgrades are planned for Obohia, Uratta, and Old Express roads.

Governor Otti expressed appreciation for the support and confidence shown by stakeholders, describing Barrister Nkire as both “a father and a friend.” He emphasized the importance of sustained peace and security as essential foundations for development.

In solidarity, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (representing Abia South) and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa, lauded Governor Otti’s leadership and developmental strides. They publicly adopted him as their preferred candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Barrister Theo Nkire and the President of the Aba Union, Eze Young Nwogu, also praised Governor Otti’s performance, stating that he has exceeded the expectations of the people.
