Alaafin of Oyo Mourns Late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin

Oyo, Nigeria: The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and people of Ibadanland following the passing of the Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died in the early hours of Monday.

In a statement issued through his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the Alaafin lamented the monarch’s death, which occurred less than a year after his ascension to the throne.

Describing the late Oba Olakulehin as a visionary and dedicated leader, Oba Owoade praised the monarch’s contributions to the development of Ibadanland during his brief reign, saying his impact would be remembered for years to come.

“Prayers and fond memories are all we have left of our dearly departed royal father. A good heart has ceased to beat, and a noble soul has returned to its Maker. His departure leaves a deep void,” the Alaafin said.

Reflecting on the inevitability of death, Oba Owoade urged the public to remember that life is fleeting. “No one is granted immortality. Every soul shall taste death, as this is the natural law that governs life. This short earthly journey must come to an end for all,” he stated.

Quoting spiritual teachings, the Alaafin emphasized that life is a test marked by both trials and triumphs. He described the late monarch as a committed and compassionate ruler who, despite his strength and wisdom, could not resist the call of death at age 90.

On behalf of himself and the people of Oyo town, the Alaafin extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved royal family and the entire Ibadanland

“We pray that the soul of the departed monarch finds eternal peace with our Creator, and may those left behind find strength and solace in the love and support of those around them,” he added.
