Imo Govt Destroys Criminal Den, Arrests Suspects

Owerri, Nigeria — In a determined effort to restore security and public order, the Imo State Government has demolished a notorious criminal hideout located in Ama Hausa, Owerri.

The operation, led by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Monitoring and Compliance, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, targeted a location allegedly linked to drug trafficking, illegal arms dealings, and other criminal activities. The action follows intelligence received from a concerned citizen, prompting surveillance and eventual intervention.

“This government will not tolerate criminality. We’re dismantling all illegal operations—no syndicate is beyond the reach of the law,” Nwaneri declared during the exercise.

Several suspects were arrested at the site and handed over to security agencies for investigation and prosecution. A video of the demolition has since gone viral, highlighting the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on crime under Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Leaders of the Hausa community in Imo praised the government’s action, describing it as a necessary move to ensure peace and eliminate bad elements tarnishing their collective image. They expressed gratitude to the governor for his fairness and pledged support for all crime-fighting initiatives.

The government has urged landlords, market unions, and community leaders to remain vigilant, warning that anyone found aiding or shielding criminals would face the full weight of the law.

“Imo is on a renewed path to safety and development. Under this administration, there will be no hiding place for criminals,” the statement read.
