11 Kidnap Suspects Nabbed by Police in Oyo State

Ilero, Oyo StateThe Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 11 suspects in connection with the murder of a farmer and the abduction of two women in Ilero, Kajola Local Government Area.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Adenola, during his visit to the affected community on Thursday. He assured residents that efforts were ongoing to ensure the swift and safe rescue of the abducted victims, who were kidnapped on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

CP Adenola, accompanied by senior officers, engaged with local stakeholders, including the youth of Ilero, urging them to halt plans for protest to prevent possible infiltration by criminal elements.

The Elero of Ilero land, Oba Wasiu Oyedele, commended the security forces for their efforts but decried the persistent attacks on farmers and destruction of crops by suspected herders. He called for peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups in the area.

Community leaders from Iwajowa and Kajola LGAs echoed similar concerns, urging intensified efforts from security agencies to rescue the victims, who were abducted while working at an agro-products store.

In a show of cooperation, Seriki Fulani of the area, Muhamud Yusuf, affirmed the readiness of the herder community to work with the police and vigilantes to eliminate criminal elements. He emphasized that many of the recent attacks were carried out by unidentified herders and outsiders not known to the local community.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
