Tribunal shoots down Okhuarobo’s petition against Egor/Ikpoba federal lawmaker

The Election Petition Tribunal in Benin City has rejected Mr. Okhuarobo Henry Osamuede’s PDP petition against INEC’s declaration of Omoruyi Murphy Osaro of the Labour Party as the victor in the Egor/Ikpoba Federal Constituency election on February 25, 2023.

Justice O.A. Chijioke, who delivered the unanimous verdict, stated that the petition lacked merit because the Petitioners failed to substantiate their case.

The Petitioners, Okhuarobo Henry Osamuede and the PDP, challenged Osaro’s qualification to run in the election and cited noncompliance with the Electoral Act, 2022, as well as the absence of a Labour Party candidate in the election. However, the election panel led by Justice Chijioke dismissed these claims, asserting that the petitioner presented documents without sufficient evidential value.

Currently, Justice Chijioke is delivering the judgment for the All Progressives Congress candidate, Hon. Crosby Osadolor Eribo, in the same Egor/Ikpoba Federal Constituency election against Omoruyi Murphy Osaro of the Labour Party, who was declared the winner by INEC.
