Abuja — Paul Ibe, the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has publicly lambasted Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, for what he described as incessant and hostile attacks on Labour Party’s presidential flagbearer in the 2023 elections, Mr. Peter Obi.
In a strongly worded statement released on his verified X handle Saturday afternoon, Ibe criticized Omokri’s recent comments as “unprovoked, bitter, and utterly lacking in depth,” particularly in relation to Peter Obi.
The response follows a social media post by Omokri on Friday, in which he subtly boasted about his perceived integrity — a virtue he claimed was acknowledged by Atiku during a private phone conversation.
In his rebuttal, Ibe dismissed Omokri’s claim as both laughable and hypocritical. “Credibility and Reno Omokri used in the same sentence? That’s a contradiction so absurd, it defies grammar and logic,” he wrote.
He further described Omokri as a “textbook narcissist projecting his personal insecurities onto others” and accused him of being an opportunist with no moral compass. “You masquerade as loyal, but your reputation speaks louder than your words. Even those who share the same space with you do so out of caution,” Ibe said.
Taking a swipe at Omokri’s claim that Atiku had shown him kindness, Ibe suggested Omokri’s interactions with political figures are purely self-serving. “Your kind of ‘goodness’ is not rooted in values — it is transactional. You circle around politicians like a scavenger sniffing for survival,” he added.
Ibe also questioned Omokri’s morality and religious posturing, calling him a “hypocritical preacher” whose personal life contradicts the very values he promotes. “You call yourself a pastor, yet your personal affairs are riddled with contradictions. Your spiritual credentials are as questionable as your political loyalty,” he wrote.
Addressing Omokri’s continued jabs at Peter Obi, Ibe demanded to know what the former Anambra governor had done to warrant such sustained hostility. “Or is it that Obi’s rise threatens your fragile ego?” he queried.
He also accused Omokri of switching allegiances for convenience, describing him as a political chameleon. “You once stood beside men you now tear down. Your loyalty is as flimsy as paper in a storm,” he noted.
Bringing his tirade to a close, Ibe warned that Omokri’s political relevance is fading fast. “You are loud, desperate, and ultimately disposable. No volume of self-praise can rescue you from the insignificance you now inhabit.”
In a final flourish, Ibe mocked, “Reno, oh Reno, what a mockery.”
