Abuja, Nigeria — Aliyu Audu, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Bola Tinubu, has officially stepped down from his position, bringing an end to his tenure in the federal government.
In a letter dated June 8, 2025, and addressed to the President via Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Audu confirmed that his resignation takes immediate effect.
Expressing heartfelt appreciation, Audu described his time in office as both an honour and privilege, thanking President Tinubu for entrusting him with a key role in the administration’s communications strategy.
“I am sincerely thankful, Mr. President, for the privilege of serving our nation under your leadership. It was a great honour to be part of this government’s communications team,” he stated in the letter.
Audu also extended gratitude to Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, who recommended him for the appointment despite having only a limited prior relationship.
Originally nominated on August 26, 2023, Audu’s appointment was confirmed by President Tinubu on October 9, 2023.
While he gave no detailed reason for stepping down, Audu reaffirmed his commitment to the success of the Tinubu-led government, pledging continued support and prayers for the administration and the country at large.
