Education society pays tribute as Prof. Jubril Passes at 85

Abuja, NigeriaThe Federal Ministry of Education has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of distinguished academic and elder statesman, Professor Jubril Aminu, offering condolences to his family, the people and government of Adamawa State.

Professor Aminu, who served as Nigeria’s Minister of Education between 1985 and 1989, died in Abuja following a prolonged illness. He was aged 85.

In a formal statement issued by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, the late Professor was described as an iconic figure in Nigeria’s academic and public service landscape, revered for his immense contributions as a cardiologist, diplomat, and national leader.

The Ministry highlighted his enduring legacy in shaping educational policies and advancing intellectual excellence, noting that his life’s work continues to inspire generations within and beyond the education sector.

The statement concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul and strength for all loved ones left behind to bear the loss.
