Manchester, England — Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has recommended Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as a top transfer target for the club ahead of the 2025/26 season, as the Red Devils look to reinforce their attacking options.
Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, Scholes emphasized that signing Osimhen would be both realistic and strategic for United, who are seeking firepower following a disappointing campaign.
Osimhen, 26, enjoyed a standout loan spell with Galatasaray, where he emerged as the top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig with 26 goals, playing a key role in the club’s title-winning run.
With Manchester United eager to address their goal-scoring struggles, Scholes described the Super Eagles star as a “doable” signing given the current financial landscape. He also called for the club to retain Rasmus Højlund, insisting the young Danish forward still holds promise.
“Højlund may not have been exceptional, but he’s just 22 and has carried the burden alone up front for two seasons,” Scholes noted. “A club like Manchester United should have at least three quality centre-forwards. I’d go with Højlund, Osimhen, and Gyökeres.”
United are expected to be active in the transfer market this summer, with fan expectations growing for a significant rebuild that can return the team to top-tier contention.
