Ibadan, Nigeria — The Oyo State Government, through the State Water Corporation, has commenced the process of connecting potable water to the Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan.
This was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of the Water Corporation, Mr. Elias Adeojo, during a meeting with the Managing Director of Cranebury Construction Company, Mr. Jonny Sdozine, and the Project Manager, Mr. Daniel Sjoud.
Mr. Adeojo stated that the move followed a directive from Governor Seyi Makinde, who ordered that all necessary steps be taken to ensure the airport is supplied with clean water. He assured that the project will be completed promptly, adding that all required materials for the execution have already been made available.
“I had a meeting with His Excellency during one of his recent unscheduled visits to the airport, where he gave a direct order to ensure the water pipeline is connected without delay,” he said.
In a related development, the Chairman also announced that reconnection work has started on restoring potable water supply to the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan.
He explained that the facility had previously enjoyed water supply before its main pipeline was vandalized, causing service disruption. However, with the recent replacement of a damaged 100mm UPC pipeline servicing the Oke-Adu area, reconnection efforts for the correctional facility are now progressing.
Adeojo further mentioned that other former customers of the corporation in the area will soon be reconnected, as the Agodi Correctional Centre project is expected to be completed within a few days.
