Amambra, Nigeria — The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Habubakar Umar, for allegedly defiling four minors in the state.
In a press statement on Thursday by the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police disclosed that the suspect was arrested on Tuesday.
“The operatives of Adamawa State Police Command attached to the State Intelligence Department, on the 14/5/2025 arrested one Habubakar Umar, 22 years old, a resident of Rumde Baru, Yola North Local Government Area, a commercial tricyclist, for an alleged act of sodomising four little male children aged between eight and nine.”
The statement disclosed that the arrest of Umar was based on a complaint from the victim’s parent, who reported that the suspect was hired to convey their children to school.
“However, Umar took advantage of that and, on several occasions, lured them into an unnatural offence.”
According to the statement, the suspect confessed to committing the crime and blamed the devil.
It said the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, condemned the criminal act and directed that the case be diligently investigated and charged to court without delay.
“The command urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and report people of suspicious character to the nearest police stations in the state,” it concluded.
