Oyo Govt Unveils Export-Ready Agro Products to Boost Trade

Ibadan, NigeriaThe Oyo State Government has launched a range of export-ready, value-added food products in a bid to accelerate agro-industrialisation and strengthen the state’s participation in regional and continental markets.

 

The initiative was spearheaded by the Agricultural Exporting Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society, which unveiled processed and packaged yam, cassava, and plantain flour suitable for both local consumption and international export. The launch event took place at the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan.

 

In addition, the government inaugurated a new board of directors for the Association of Nigeria Cooperative Exporters (ANCE) Limited, as part of its ongoing efforts to reform cooperative structures across the state.

 

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Hon. Adeniyi Adebisi, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Mamud Okesade, emphasized the importance of revamping cooperative frameworks to align with contemporary market demands and investor expectations.

 

He also disclosed plans by the ministry to establish a Directorate of Quality Control. According to Adebisi, the proposed directorate will focus on ensuring that Oyo’s export products meet the stringent quality standards required in global markets.

 

“The relevance of cooperative reforms and product standardisation cannot be overstated if we aim to compete effectively at both regional and international levels,” Adebisi noted.

 

This development marks a significant stride in Oyo State’s agenda to diversify its economy through agricultural innovation and international trade.
