Kebbi Pilgrims ready for smooth Hajj 2025 as airlift begins May 9

Kebbi state, Nigeria: The Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been concluded for the successful participation of its pilgrims in the 2025 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia.

At the agency’s inaugural briefing held in Birnin Kebbi, the 2025 Amirul Hajj and Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad Mera, assured journalists that the welfare and safety of all Kebbi pilgrims would be given top priority throughout the pilgrimage.

Alhaji Mera disclosed that 3,800 intending pilgrims from the state have completed their Hajj payments. He further announced that the airlift of pilgrims will commence on May 9 and continue in phases until all pilgrims are transported without disruption.

In a notable development, the Amirul Hajj revealed that, for the first time, pilgrims would receive their Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) in Saudi Riyals directly from the agency, a move designed to curb currency exchange malpractices and protect pilgrims from financial exploitation.

He called on all government delegates and agency officials to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and in accordance with Governor Nasir Idris’ directive to ensure the most seamless Hajj experience yet for the state’s pilgrims.

Echoing this commitment, the Executive Chairman of the Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruk Musa Yaro, affirmed the agency’s readiness, noting that arrangements for accommodation, feeding, transportation, and other essential logistics have been finalized. He added that Flynas, the airline used in the previous year, has once again been contracted for the airlift operations.

The event also featured the ceremonial launch of the vaccination exercise, with the Amirul Hajj and key officials receiving their Hajj-required immunizations from medical personnel.
