“Radda Pledges N700m for Cultural Heritage Projects”

Katsina state,Nigeria: Katsina State Governor Dr. Dikko Umar Radda has expressed full backing for the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy’s efforts to preserve Nigeria’s cultural heritage and promote the country’s creative industry

Governor Radda made the declaration during a courtesy visit to Hajia Hannatu Musa Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, in Abuja.

Support for Cultural Preservation and Artifact Recovery

Commending the Minister’s proactive measures, Governor Radda acknowledged her efforts toward the preservation of Nigeria’s cultural legacy, as well as the retrieval of important national artifacts. He emphasized the immense cultural wealth Nigeria possesses, deserving recognition on a global stage. “We are proud of you and your achievable initiatives. There is great potential in this ministry, and we have much to showcase to the world,” said Governor Radda.

Investing in Heritage and the Creative Economy

The Governor also highlighted Katsina State’s ongoing projects to safeguard its cultural heritage, including a N100 million renovation of the historic Gobarau Minaret and a N640 million contract for upgrading the National Museum in Katsina. He stressed the need for investments in infrastructure to better support young talents, noting that while the creative industry holds significant potential, it is constrained by inadequate facilities and resources.

Minister Musawa’s Vision for Economic Growth Through Culture

In her remarks, Minister Musawa thanked Governor Radda for his visit and support. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging culture and tourism as catalysts for economic diversification. “We aim for an economic breakthrough in tourism. The revenue potential is vast but largely untapped. By focusing on our heritage, artifacts, and traditions, we can foster domestic tourism,” she explained.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of job creation and economic growth through investments in the creative sector, particularly by empowering youth and strengthening cultural infrastructure.
