Nigeria: The post-Eid-el-Fitr workweek has begun, with civil servants across the country resuming duties after the holidays
However, a visit to the Federal Secretariat in Abuja revealed a low turnout of workers, with some offices locked and car parks quieter than usual.
Some workers attributed the low attendance to ongoing annual leave, while others seemed to still be in a holiday mood. A Deputy Director in the Ministry of Regional Development confirmed his return to work and hinted at possible action against absentees.
The federal secretariat complex lacked its usual hustle and bustle, with many workers expected to gradually return to their duties in the coming days.
