Southern Kaduna, Nigeria — A tragic lightning strike on Sunday has claimed the life of a herdsman and 12 of his cattle in Southern Kaduna, causing deep sorrow within the local community.
The incident occurred in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as reported by newsmen.
Simon Ayuba, the Village Head of Matuak Giwa, confirmed the fatal strike on Monday. He explained that the herdsman had sought shelter from the rain along with his cattle when the thunderbolt struck, resulting in the immediate deaths of both the herder and his livestock.
“It was a devastating event,” Ayuba remarked. “The herder and the 12 cows perished on the spot, leaving the entire community in disbelief.”
Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, the Ardo of Bondon District, also verified the tragic incident. He disclosed that the deceased herder was from Bauchi State, expressing sorrow over the loss. He further called for prayers and support for the grieving family as the herder was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.
