Kaduna State government has reviewed downward the fees of tertiary institutions across the state to reduce the plight of students and their parents.
The State Governor, Malam Uba Sani announced this at a news briefing at Government House, Kaduna.
Governor Sani said the decision was taken in response to the public outcry over the current fees being charged by tertiary institutions in Kaduna State and its effect on school enrolment and retention.
He explained that, Kaduna State University Fees has been reduced by thirty percent.
Malam Uba Sani maintained that, the downward review of the extant fees regime aligns with with his administration commitment to offer palliatives to cushion the effect of general rising cost of living in the polity, especially in the wake of recent petroleum subsidy removal in Nigeria.
According to him, the welfare of the people was topmost priority, to provide free and qualitative education for every child in Kaduna State from primary to secondary school and expand access to higher education among others.
