Liverpool has signed Wataru Endo from Stuggart in a 4-year deal after his work permit and international clearance.
The deal worth £16.2m will keep the Japanese midfielder at Anfield until 2027.
“It feels amazing, and this is my dream. It’s always [been] a dream to play [in the] Premier League and with one of the biggest clubs in the world. It’s a dream come true for me”, Endo said on arrival at Merseyside after four seasons with Stuttgart.
Endo’s arrival at Anfield will be a kind of compensation for the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Hednerson, which respectively switched to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
“I’m really happy. Wataru is a really good player,” Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said.
Having captained both Stuttgart and Japan, Endo’s well-established leadership skills further bolster Liverpool’s crop of national team captains which includes Andrew Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Szoboszlai.
The 30-year-old was captain of the Japanese national team and at Stuggart where he made a total of 133 appearances and scored 15 goals.
